According to economic historians, the true globalization of the economy began with the industrial revolution. This is the so-called globalization 1.0, and the period ends with the First World War. After the Second World War, a qualitatively new process in the world economy or globalization 2.0 began, culminating in the period 1990-2008. However, it seems that the 2.0 model is exhausted. 10 years after the crisis in 2008, the world is facing a choice - reform of rules and institutions in order to move to globalization 3.0 or active deglobalization.
Recently, more and more economists have argued that at this time the world is unable to build new rules and institutions and deglobalization is inevitable. It is obvious that whether the process is irreversible or not, in the next 1-2 decades the world will be in transition. A transition, however, it is not clear what it will lead to.
So what do you think we will have in 20 years? The options I think are 3.
- a world with a global economy and qualitatively new institutions and rules - or the world of globalization 3.0
- a world with a de-globalized economy, but with several zones, each of which will have a mini-global "own economy" and its own rules, and there will be some fairly stable relations between the different zones.
- the transition is not over yet - ie. a globalized economy, but without clear zones, without common or at least local rules and without stability.
Тъй като светът става все по-свързан, тези неща ще се влошават. Мислите ли, че ще видим глобална промяна в настроенията за спиране на глобализацията?
Глобализация 3.0 ....... или деглобализация?
